Catching up on photos from the fall. Cody and I did a solo trip to the Adirondacks in October. On two occasions I was pulled aside by older gentlemen who expressed how much they enjoyed watching us and lamented not finding more time for father-son trips when their sons were younger.
Rainy walk in Rhode Island.
A few street shots walking around Soho a couple weeks ago. The old neighborhood felt a bit grittier.
Side trip to Orlando with friends in March.
Dusk in West Palm Beach from our visit in March.
Every so often a shot will capture the essence of our family in ways that only become apparent to me later. Claire, as usual, has underdressed for the hike and borrowed my coat. Cody delights in having once again exploited his wearied mother’s affection for a back-breaking piggyback ride. And a playfully resentful Calvin lurks behind, mischievously tugging away at his brother’s ankle. I suspect we’ll see the same dynamics ten years from now. Capturing moments like this reminds me why I take photographs.
Walk to Highcliffe Beach. Isle of Wight to the distance across the English Channel.
After London we took a train south to explore the New Forest and the Hampshire countryside. It rained almost nonstop but we had some nice walks in the dry intervals.
Three days in London over Spring Break.
Hike through Smuggler’s Notch.
Dusk at Peter and Rebecca’s, looking out at the Presidentials. Another from the archives.
Cody on the beach last fall.
A lone shot from the Rim-to-Rim hike with my brothers in late October. Not thrilled with how my photos came out, but photography took the back seat on this adventure and capturing the majesty of this place with a camera is well out of my league.
From last Christmas when we had a bit of snow.
Racing the waves after a storm in late August.
Some macro shots from a walk through Ruddick Commons in November.
October walks on Nantucket.
